“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favour all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do or dream you can begin it, boldness has genius, power and magic in it. Begin it now.”

Today was the first day I found the need to record my birth story.  Maybe it took me 2 months to process it all.  Or it could be that in seeing how quickly August is growing and changing I fear losing the small memories that make all the difference.

(And don’t we all just love to hear a good birth story!)

Today I’m savoring.

Warm mornings in a disheveled bed with Josh and August.  We do everything we can to keep August smiling his majestic smiles.  He teaches us the meaning in slowing down. And we all seem to find joy.

Today I found myself looking at this picture we have on our mantle:

And thinking back to that time of anticipation and longing.  We were so fragile and we still have so much to learn.  About protection, grace and love.

And we are so excited about patty griffin’s forthcoming album.
