January 20, 2009

The weather lately has been stunning.  Until today I’ve been buried deep in the maternity ward.  Good thing today came.

Tomorrow holds promise and I’m holding my breath for running outside in the sun.

The time will come

when, with elation,

you will greet yourself arriving

at your own door, in your mirror,

and each will smile at the other’s welcome,

and say, sit here. Eat.

You will love again the stranger who was your self.

Give wine. Give bread. Give back your heart

to itself, to the stranger who has loved you

and your life, whom you ignored

for another, who knows you by heart.

Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,

the photographs, the desperate notes,

peel your own image from the mirror.

Sit. Feast on your life.

  1. Hi Amber and Josh…Happy Winter, Yea! Hope you enjoyed the 14’er today. The pictures are even more beautiful than I remember. We love you two! I’m looking forward to letting January pass. Cold weather, more time at home and quiet interludes. It’s been bitter and sweet. I’ve been given the priviledge, oh yes, the priviledge of reflecting on the great and glorious Love of God…found deliberately and solely in our Lord and Saviour, Christ Jesus. Hallelujah and Amen! Love Always, Mom and Dad.
